NYC subway line plunged into chaos as person is struck ‘and killed’ by train at Astor Place station

A man was reportedly killed by a New York City subway train minutes before the evening rush hour.

A person was hit on the 4/5/6 line at the Astor Place stop.

Emergency services are on the scene trying to reach the victim.

Police say a man was pronounced dead after being pinned under a train.

The 4/5/6 trains begin in Lower Manhattan and run to 125th Street in East Harlem. The incident occurred at 464 Lafayette Street.

There is no 6th train service at 33rd, 28th, 23rd, Astor Pl, Bleecker St, Spring St and Canal St, New York Subway, posted on X (formally known as Twitter) .

6 southbound trains now run express from 42 Grand Central to the Brooklyn Bridge and City Hall.

The MTA announced the incident and delays on its social media and through its app, saying 4/5/6 was expected to be disrupted “at least until 6:10 p.m.”

“Prayer for the victim. Please, be patient. This is an emergency,” one person wrote on X.
