Osasuna striker Ante Budimir has staked his claim for the worst penalty ever after conceding a disastrous late effort against Valencia on Monday night.
The Croatian had the chance to salvage a draw for the LaLiga hosts in the dying embers of stoppage time after initially winning a controversial penalty.
Budimir had the chance to grab a point for Osasuna after being kicked in the back of the leg by Valencia defender Hugo Guillamon.
He rose confidently as the El Sadar stadium held its breath in anticipation, but was left wishing the ground would swallow him up moments later when the ball settled into the hands of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Budimir looked torn between whether to go for power or try to chip the ball down the middle of the goal and instead almost ended up tripping as he went to take his shot.

Budimir and his Osasuna team-mates could not believe what had happened as a commentator began to describe the comical moment to stunned viewers.
“He’s missed it and he’s not just missed it, it’s the worst penalty you’ve seen so far this season and maybe ever,” said the Premier Sports commentator.
‘Poor old Ante Budimir, what a moment and what a terrible spot kick it was.
‘Valencia fans will feel justice has been done and Osasuna fans applaud the player but this is his worst moment of the campaign.’
