Outrage over far-left AOC’s Christmas post that likens Jesus to Palestinians and Israel as occupying force as she wishes for ‘peace on earth’

  • The left-wing member of the Democratic “squad” shared his message on Instagram on Christmas Eve.
  • In a lengthy post, she said she was praying “for peace and protection of the innocent in the Gaza Strip.”
  • She went on to compare Jesus, Mary and Joseph to modern-day Palestinians who are being persecuted by right-wing forces.

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has come under fire for her Christmas post in which she called Israel a brutal occupying force and compared Jesus to Palestinians.

On Instagram on Christmas Eve, AOC shared a photo of a child lying on a pile of rubble surrounded by wooden Nativity scene signs.

Accompanying the photo, The New Yorker wrote: “In the Nativity story, Christ is born in modern-day Palestine under the threat of a government engaged in the slaughter of innocent people.”

She went on to compare Jesus, who was hunted by King Herod, to the “right-wing forces” currently “forcibly occupying Bethlehem.”

Her post sparked a backlash online, with some accusing her of “Jew hating.”

The Forward’s senior political reporter Jacob Kornbluh said: “KLA describes Israel as ‘brutal right-wing occupying force’ in Christmas post. No mention of Hamas terror or the victims of the October 7 attack.”

In her full post, AOC said: “He was part of a targeted population that was being killed indiscriminately to protect the power of an unjust leader.

“Mary and Joseph, displaced by violence and forced to flee, became refugees in Egypt with a newborn expecting to one day return home.

“Thousands of years later, right-wing forces are forcibly occupying Bethlehem while similar stories are unfolding for today’s Palestinians, so much so that the Christian community in Bethlehem canceled this year’s Christmas Eve celebration both out of (fear for their) safety and respect.

“Yet today holy children are still born into a place of unspeakable violence—for every child born, regardless of identity and place, is sacred. Especially the children of Gaza.

“The entire story of Christmas and Christ himself is about supporting the poor and the powerless, the marginalized and maligned, the refugees and immigrants, the outcasts and the misunderstood, without exception.

“This high Christian holiday is dedicated to honoring the precious sanctity of a family that, if history were to unfold today, would be the Palestinian Jews.

‘Merry Christmas. May there be peace on Earth, amen.”

Pro-Israel activist Andrea Karshan responded: “I wish people would just enjoy Christmas and stop treating it with such political justice.”

“I’m so glad that when I was a Christian, I had a great Christmas and didn’t waste time on this nonsense. This is so stupid.

KLA has previously condemned both Israel and Hamas in the conflict, calling for a ceasefire and calling the Hamas attack on October 7 and Israel’s response war crimes.

Earlier this month, she condemned the US decision to veto a UN Security Council resolution demanding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as “shameful”.

Along with other members of the far-left “squad,” she has repeatedly advocated for an end to Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.

In November, she signed her name to a letter addressed to Biden calling for an immediate ceasefire.

The letter said: “We write to you to express our deep concern about the escalating war in Gaza, especially the serious violations against children, and our fears that without an immediate cessation of hostilities and a credible bilateral ceasefire, this war will result in further casualties among civilians and risk drawing the United States into a dangerous and unwise conflict with armed groups throughout the Middle East.”
