He said Mirror: “It affected parts of my life, I was dating someone and became shy, but once I got past that stage I thought, ‘Wow, if it’s cancer, what will it do to my mom?’, so I picked myself up courage to stop being a wimp about it.”

The TV star said he panicked after receiving inconclusive test results and having to wait an agonizing three weeks to find out whether the tumor was cancerous or not.

“I was afraid that when you find a lump, especially down there, you think, ‘Oh crap.’ You don’t want anything to go wrong with your wedding gear,” he continued.

“I kept it to myself and didn’t even tell my mom, guys always want everything to be okay and never be a burden – it’s ego pride and it’s not a good thing to do.”

Pete said he felt “blessed” to learn the tumor was not cancerous and that he was able to drain it, admitting it could have had “devastating consequences.”

Pete appears in The Real Full Monty Christmas special alongside a host of other stars including Gemma Collins, Julia Bradbury and Ben Cohen.
