Radiant Kate Middleton is wonderful in white as the Princess of Wales shows her prowess as the Queen of tonal dressing at Christmas carol concert

She may be the Princess of Wales, but she’s the queen of tonal outfits – and Kate lived up to that title with a white vision last night.

Forget the red and green holiday clichés – now is the time to move away from the colorful pantsuits she’s been seen in lately. After all, what could be more stylish and Christmassy than winter white?

While she kept the contemporary shape of the high-waisted wide trousers (this stylish pair from UK brand Holland Cooper costs £299), Kate updated the look with lightweight knit crewneck trousers.

Her stunning long coat was custom made by Alexander McQueen. Even the Strathberry Mosaic bag was bright white.

Her mother-of-pearl drop earrings from French jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels retail for £6,000. And where white pumps would have been too much, she wisely opted for £650 Gianvito Rossi pumps in soft nude suede.

It’s the kind of quiet luxury that only royalty and celebrities can achieve – very few of us can afford to wear white.

Kate hosted a Together at Christmas event at Westminster Abbey and welcomed her family, members of the monarchy and inspirational people, paying tribute to those who support children and families.

The Prince of Wales arrived alongside Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis after Kate went ahead to thank celebrities for agreeing to perform, including Oscar winner Jim Broadbent and singers Beverley Knight and Adam Lambert.

Upon entering the abbey courtyard, the royal children paused for a moment to place Christmas cards in a special mailbox with messages for children who may be struggling this Christmas, and something open to all young people present.

The young royals – George, 10, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five – were smartly dressed, with their mother wearing a Chris Kerr coat.

Before the concert began, Kate met celebrities in the Abbey’s stunning 16th-century Lady Chapel and chatted with Broadbent for agreeing to read an excerpt from The Letters of Father Christmas by Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien.

She said: “Thank you for your time because I know the build up to Christmas can be busy for people.”

Kate appeared to joke with multi-instrumentalist Collier, who has posted music instructional videos on YouTube, about her daughter learning to play the piano, and he joked: “Lots of spanking and spanking.”

She also walked around the Abbey before the event, speaking to young people who carried out inspiring activities.
