Ruby Wax, 70, says ‘if you’ve got it, flaunt it’ as she shows off her age-defying figure in a green swimsuit on the beach in Cape Town

Ruby Wax proudly showed off her age-defying figure in a green swimsuit on Instagram on Wednesday, telling her followers: “If you’ve got it, flaunt it.”

The comedian looked several years younger than his 70 years in a plunging wrap jumpsuit with ruffled sides.

Ruby, who was stranded at Clifton Beach in Cape Town, South Africa, said she goes swimming every day and “freezes her butt off” but feels great afterwards.

She said, “So, this is where I swim every day, and it’s cold there.” You freeze your butt, supposedly it protects against depression. And yet I am a living example of this.”

“Then I shower here, I always change where everyone can see me. I think if you have it, flaunt it. Let me soak it in, I’ll never show it again.”

Fans praised Ruby, with many telling her: “You can do it, girl!”

Actress Tamzin Outhwaite wrote: “Love you,” while others added: “You’re absolutely incredible darling!” and “You look amazing, keep doing what you’re doing.”

Ruby has been open about her struggles with clinical depression for many years and completed a Master’s degree in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy at Kellogg College, Oxford University, in 2013.

Appearing on Crisis What crisis? podcast in 2020, she revealed how she had “lost her mojo” while struggling with her mental health on television and admitted it had taken a serious toll on her ego that needed replacing.

However, the Girls On Top actress stressed that she was glad her showbiz career had come to an end because she could very well have “hurt herself” if she ended up on reality TV, which she believes there would be an inevitable next step.

Ruby went on to describe her training in psychotherapy as a “life raft”, which she finds much “more exciting” than her life on television.

“If I did it now, it would be a tragedy,” Ruby said. “If there had been such a misfortune, I would not have left the institution so that you could visit me there.

“I know that when there is a life raft, I jumped on this neuroscience as a mother and it was absolutely exciting, more exciting than television.”

Ruby said there was no “epiphany” to help her overcome her mental health struggles, and that at some points she didn’t know whether to “get her nails done or jump off a cliff.”
