The 56-year-old actor, who played love rat Jasper in the holiday film The Holiday, popped the question to the American actress, who is 30 years his junior.
Vivian, who has starred in Arsenal, Criminal Minds and Grown Up Sky Dancers, took to social media to share a photo of the pair cuddling, as well as the beautiful diamond ring Rufus gave her.
In the caption, she wrote: “Until death (or him continuing to walk on rugs in street shoes) do us part.”
This will be the third time Rufus gets married.

Rufus famously played Kate Winslet’s on-screen love interest in The Holiday, but his character turned out to be something of a love rat.
His first wife was his long-time girlfriend, Australian fashion journalist Yasmin Abdallah. They married in 1999 and divorced in 2000.
The actor married his second wife, screenwriter and producer Amy Gardner, in 2004. They sadly divorced in 2006.
They have a son, William Douglas. He also has a 10-year-old daughter named Lola from his relationship with Ami Komai.
It appears Rufus popped the question during a romantic getaway to Rome, with Vivian sharing a snap of herself in the city the day before their exciting announcement.
Scores of Vivian’s friends took to the comments section of the engagement post to share their congratulations.
A family member wrote: “You look so good together. this makes my heart sing: we need to plan a wedding!”
Others wrote: “Oh my god!! Best couple. Congratulations to you two, so much love to you both!” and “I’m so excited!!!!” HOORAY!!’.
Rufus’ first wife Yasmine previously spoke about their short-lived marriage in an interview with the publication Elle.
She met Rufus in a bar in Australia and after a few months of dating they moved to the UK and mixed with the Primrose Hill film crew. “Honestly, I don’t know if I was accepted… some weird shaven-headed Australian-Lebanese girl who wasn’t quite part of the cast,” she said.
“I ended up making some bad decisions, bad business decisions and ended up losing the store, which was devastating for me. Rufus and I weren’t together anymore and it was pretty hard. I was broken. It was a time of great loss. But it was also a time of great healing, where I went on—dare I say it—a spiritual journey.”

The actor will play Prince Andrew in a new adaptation of Newsnight’s sensational interview with the Duke.
The actor, who also starred in The Legend of Zorro, A Knight’s Tale and Dark City, will next play the Duke of York in the upcoming Netflix adaptation.
But the heartthrob will reportedly wear facial prosthetics to make himself look “less handsome” for his role in the series, which will feature the story of Newsnight’s interview with Andrew.
The adaptation, which will be called Scoop, will star Gillian Anderson as Emily Maitlis, who questioned Andrew in a 2019 interview about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
