Saudi Arabia’s Entertainment Minister Turki Alalashih has asked broadcasters airing the December 23 event to lower their pay-per-view prices so everyone can enjoy the greatest boxing card in history.
Dubbed “Day of Reckoning,” the event will see the likes of Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder fight on the same card against Otto Wallin and Joseph Parker.
Daniel Dubois, Jai Opeitita and Dmitry Bivol will also appear on the Saudi Arabia card later this month, making this one of the most exciting events in boxing history.
Fans were expecting extortionate PPV prices given the caliber of athletes fighting on the card – and after previously being charged huge prices for Tyson Fury’s fight against Saudi Arabia’s Francis Ngannou in October. American fans were forced to pay $80 and British fans £21.95.
Alalashichi has now asked broadcasters to reduce prices so “everyone can enjoy” the show.
“We are proud to host one of the most exciting nights of boxing ever seen,” he wrote on X. “Every fight on this card could be a headliner!”
Saudi Arabia’s boxing chief Turki Alalashih has called on broadcasters to reduce PPV prices for the upcoming Day of Reckoning card on December 23.
In the United States, fans were charged $80 to watch the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou fight.
This mega event will feature many of the best fighters on the same night.
“We want all boxing fans to be able to join us this evening, which is why we have asked all of our broadcast partners to reduce their pay-per-view to these prices to offer fans exceptional value. US + Canada: $39.99. UK: £19.99. Rest of World: $21.99.”
To celebrate the release of the PPV value, Turki Alalashih posted an iconic photo of the boxers on the December 23rd card.
Alalashikh flew with the December 23 card to London ahead of a press conference last month.
On arrival, the boxers were dressed in tailored tuxedos and invited to sit at a Victorian table.
Joshua and Wilder sat at opposite ends of the table, with Dubois and Jarrell Miller sitting in the middle.
