Tim Tszyu’s highly anticipated rematch with Sebastian Fundora remains a possibility later this year – just not on Australian shores.

The development comes after Fundora’s camp claimed Tszyu’s ‘disrespect’ has cost the ‘Soul Taker’ dear – and if the boxers are to fight again it will be overseas, more than likely in Las Vegas.

With both fighters still recovering from their 12-round carnage a fortnight ago, Fundora’s promoter Sampson Lewkowicz stated that his team ‘wouldn’t feel safe’ if the second bout went down under.

He also sensationally claimed that an unidentified person with a distinct ‘Australian accent’ threatened him the night before the slugfest in Sin City last month.

A rematch clause, inserted by Tszyu’s promoters No Limit, initially said a rematch would take place in Australia – but Lewkowicz expects the bout to be staged again at T-Mobile Arena, possibly in November.

“We’re doing the rematch in America,” Lewkowicz shared Raw Sports podcast.

‘Australia is not on the table anymore. ‘I am too old (73) to be mistreated in my country, in my home.

‘I’m not going to his (Tszyu’s) country, I can only imagine how they would be for me…’I don’t accept that disrespect.’

Lewkowicz hasn’t forgotten being branded a ‘weasel’ by a fired-up Tszyu pre-bout last month either – but the veteran promoter still found time to praise the 29-year-old, who is the son of boxing legend Kostya Tszyu.

“I honestly think (Terence) Crawford is getting old and Tszyu can knock him out,” he said.

‘It would be a big fight in America and Terence is looking for a payday. ‘Tim Tszyu (also) has not lost anything from this match (against Fundora).

‘His name is gold plated now and he is certified in America. He was very brave.

‘Fundora has agreed to a rematch. I will keep my word.

‘The rematch is on the table, but if Tim Tszyu doesn’t want to wait until November or December, we’ll look at someone else.’
