Seinfeld star Peter Crombie dead at 71 after battling illness – actor was known for playing Crazy Joe Davola on hit sitcom: ‘He was loved by everybody’

“Seinfeld” star Peter Crombie died Wednesday at age 71 after battling an undisclosed illness, according to reports. TMZ.

The Hollywood actor, best known for playing Crazy Joe Davola on the beloved sitcom, passed away “swiftly” due to illness, according to his ex-wife Nadine Kiyner.

However, the type of illness has not yet been disclosed, as well as other details of his death.

Crombie’s ex-wife told the publication: “He was the most kind, caring, compassionate and considerate person. Everyone loved him, he was generous and never said anything bad about anyone.”

The late star’s close friend, Bill Stetz, also said Peter was a “gentle and loyal friend with a love of soft words and expressive work as an actor and writer.”

Crombie notably appeared in a total of five episodes portraying the character Crazy Joe Davola on Seinfeld throughout 1992 and 1993.

Some of the episodes in which he appeared included “Opera”, “The Watch”, “Pitch” as well as “Pilot”.

During his time on the show, Davola was an antagonist on Seinfeld and at one point briefly dated Jerry’s close friend Elaine, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
