Ronan added: “And they’re fine!” They’re absolutely fine. Hopefully they’ll be here for the rest of the show.”

When they finally made it to the couch, Steven joked about the situation, “Santa’s sleigh ride got a little stuck, I think the reindeer were drunk or something.”

Alex jumped in, noting that the photo of the couple in the elevator was “priceless.”

Stephen added: “Usually if I get stuck in a lift I assume it’s my weight, but it was a good lift so I don’t know what went wrong. But we remained in a good mood.”

Sheridan joked: “We kept laughing!”

Sheridan’s appearance on The One Show was to promote her new Paramount+ drama Les Miserables, which premieres December 26th.

When asked how she’d cope on a desert island as herself rather than her character, she joked, “Well, I was trash in the elevator, so I’d be useless on a desert island!”

Stephen added: “Usually if I get stuck in a lift I assume it's my weight, but it was a good lift so I don't know what went wrong. But we remained in a good mood.

It comes after Sheridan revealed she lost “a lot of weight” while filming Cast Away, the new Paramount+ drama in Greece based on the best-selling novel by Lucy Clarke.

The actress attributed her weight loss to her active role in which she plays missing Laurie Holm.

She told Radio Times magazine: “I had a challenge this year, the most physical thing I’ve ever done.”

“Running up and down the beach, climbing trees for fruit, jumping off cliffs, running through the jungle, falling, cutting my feet, and then they say, “Go again,” and several more times. I’ve lost so much weight!”

Sheridan, who played the wife of train robber Ronnie Biggs and Cilla Black, said she enjoyed playing a character who wasn’t wearing heavy make-up or stylish clothes.

The star once hilariously said that she is usually called “an old girl, a girl and a slap.”

Sheridan revealed that she “lost a lot of weight” while filming Castaways, the new Paramount+ drama based on the best-selling novel by Lucy Clarke, in Greece.

She said of playing the gruff castaway, “It’s so much fun!” Hair is wet, dirty, scratched, shorts or pieces of clothing from luggage on the plane become more and more disheveled as Lori transforms from wallflower to beach warrior queen! This transition was so fun.

“I was covered in freckles, and it’s very nice to have a face without makeup, just myself.”

However, there is a downside to playing a character who spends so much time on the beach – covering up her many tattoos.

“I got the call three hours before anyone else,” she said.

“I couldn’t cover them with my normal clothes, they had to be waterproof!” So three people worked every day to cover it all. I have never regretted my tattoos so much, I will never have another one.”

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One.
