Shocking moment Good Samaritan is mowed down and killed by carjacker, 38, near North Carolina parking lot – just moments after he tried to shoot him at point blank range four times

This is the shocking moment a Good Samaritan tried to shoot down a carjacker before he was mowed down and killed.

Jonathan Adam Lecompte, 38, died after being hit by the stolen vehicle after he fired four shots at a carjacker.

The incident happened last month in Lumberton, North Carolina, after police say Ricky Alex Driggers, 28, stole a vehicle and then hit Lecompte.

Authorities charged Driggers with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted common robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and felony fleeing to elude.

Footage of the incident, which has been widely shared on social media, shows Lecompte pointing a firearm at Driggers moments before he was mowed down.

As Driggers backs away, Lecompte can be heard shouting: ‘Get out of the way, he’s going to run into us’

Lecompte can be heard warning him, ‘Don’t get in that goddamn truck,’ as he begins to fire at Driggers.

In all, Lecompte fires four times before Driggers backs up the road away from him.

As Driggers backs up, Lecompte can be heard yelling, ‘Get out of the way, he’s going to run into us.’

He and another man can be seen running across the road away from the truck, which then collides with him.

Lecompte is thrown into the air as onlookers begin screaming, while a woman is heard repeatedly shouting: ‘Oh my God!’

Others who observed the collision can be seen running over towards Lecompte, who is lying lifeless on the side of the road.

Officers from the Lumberton Police Department later caught up with Driggers, who fled the scene after he wrecked the vehicle on a freeway.

In a statement, they said: ‘Good Samaritans became involved to prevent the carjacking, but the suspect was then able to steal the vehicle of one of the Good Samaritans.’

Driggers is currently being held without bond at the Robeson County Detention Center

‘In the process of stealing the vehicle, the suspect allegedly struck one of the Good Samaritans with the stolen vehicle.

‘The male victim who was struck by the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

‘Officers arriving on scene saw the suspect fleeing the scene and pursued the suspect in the stolen vehicle until the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle on Selma Road near Highway 41.’

Driggers is currently being held without bond at the Robeson County Detention Center.
