This is the moment a ‘kid’ stole a Greater Manchester Police car after an officer arrested a ‘dangerous driver’ on foot nearby.
A video shared on TikTok shows a BMW 4×4 in police livery being driven recklessly down a street in Kirkholt, Rochdale.
The car can be seen rolling along the pavement before reversing into a side street and bouncing off the curb and back onto the road as a group of neighbors look on.
The footage, released on Sunday, is captioned: ‘Local kids steal a police car.’
In a statement released earlier today, Greater Manchester Police said the incident took place while an officer was ‘bravely’ detaining a 28-year-old male driver at a nearby shop following a pursuit.
Witnesses said the stolen police car was being driven by a child, but police have yet to confirm the suspect’s age and have been contacted by MailOnline for more information.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said today: ‘We are aware of a video shared online of a police car being driven dangerously in Kirkholt at the weekend.
‘This happened after an officer left the car to bravely detain a 28-year-old man in a nearby shop following a pursuit.
“Someone decided to get into the car and behave in this unacceptable way and now believe we have identified them for further action.”
Officers were able to recover the car close to the scene a short time later.
One person was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failure to stop for the police and driving without a license and without insurance.
They were also arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article, assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage and breaching a court order.
It is understood they remain in custody for questioning this morning.
