Simon Jordan DEFENDS Everton’s problems on and off the pitch – and targets Toffees fan Andy Burnham again – after 6-0 thrashing by Chelsea
Simon Jordan has mocked Everton’s problems on and off the pitch after they were hammered 6-0 by Chelsea on Monday night.
The Toffees put in a poor performance at Stamford Bridge as they remain 16th in the Premier League table, just two points above the relegation zone.
It came a few hours after Everton officially lodged an appeal against their second points deduction of the campaign.
The Goodison Park club were handed two points earlier this month for breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability (PSR) rules.
It followed their 10-point deduction, later reduced to six on appeal, for another PSR violation in November.

Former Crystal Palace chairman and pundit Jordan took aim at Everton – and their famous fan Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester – on X.
“#BreakingNews Apparently Everton and Andy Burnham have appealed last night’s result and expect to get at least 2 goals back,” he wrote.
Jordan took a swipe at Burnham back in February after the politician complained about how limited the media coverage of Everton’s first points deduction had been.
‘The biggest penalty in the history of English football – and the media accepts it without question,’ Burnham tweeted on February 4.
‘It says something worrying about the conflicts of interest at the heart of our game.’
Responding to talkSPORT, Jordan first said: ‘Shut up, that’s rubbish’.
He then continued: ‘He’s got himself a bit confused here, but it’s a typical politician’s hit-and-run opportunity, let’s pile in, do some virtue signaling, but when it comes to backing up what I have to say , so don’t go near anyone who can pull me up.
“His ideals behind what has happened with Everton may be some substance to the argument being made by many people that Everton are the whipping boys in the Premier League’s desire to push and change the direction of the independent regulator.
Monday night’s result leaves Everton in 16th place, just two points above the relegation zone
Burnham claimed in February that the media had not covered Everton’s penalties properly
‘But they outsourced this to an independent commission. This is the Premier League bringing a prosecution and the prosecution was heard by an independent commission and Everton’s defense was heard by an independent commission.
“This is not the essence of Premier League One, so this ridiculous stupidity coming from people, from (former Bank of England governor) Mark Carney and Andy Burnham, is based on the positional view of not really understanding the principles of what they talking about.
“So with that in mind, if Andy wants to come and say things about the media not covering it, he can because the media has covered this expansively and comprehensively.”
Everton’s latest appeal will potentially throw the Premier League’s relegation battle into chaos, with the verdict potentially not revealed until five days after the end of the season.
The Toffees are hoping they can persuade the independent commission to be more lenient this time and get a point or two back to help their relegation battle.

Sean Dyche’s side will need to continue to collect points to ensure their survival in the top flight
The latest date for the outcome of the appeal to be published is May 24, five days after Everton end their season at Arsenal.
Everton were given two points last week for overspending the allowed amount by £16.6m and the club criticized the inconsistency of Premier League sanctions in an official statement, adding that they were ‘extremely concerned’ about a lack of clarity.
The club will not release any further official statements on the substance of their latest argument with the league, but they will be hoping for a similar outcome to last time, when the first case was found to have legal flaws.
Everton were outclassed by Chelsea on Monday night, with Cole Palmer netting four times.
