Son Heung-min brands Spurs ‘SOFT’ and their performance ‘unacceptable’ after they threw away a 1-0 lead for the FIFTH game in a row to lose London derby 2-1 at home to West Ham

  • Tottenham lost 2-1 to West Ham despite initially leading.
  • This is the fifth game in a row that they have scored first without winning the match.
  • Mauricio Pochettino has his hands full with hapless Chelsea. It all begins

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has criticized his teammates following their latest Premier League collapse, calling their performance “unacceptable” and “soft.”

Spurs are the first team in the competition’s history to fail to win five games in a row, despite going 1-0 in each match, this time losing the lead to West Ham.

Speaking after the 2-1 defeat, Son said: “Losing this game is unacceptable. We have already been in the lead for five times in a row. West Ham are always difficult to play against, but we were soft.

“In the Premier League you don’t know what will happen at the end. You’ll have to kill the game. This is unacceptable. The players need to take responsibility – the fans don’t deserve that.

“We need to play with more energy, especially at home. Whether we deserve it or not, we need to move on and bounce back. This is disappointing for the fans.”

Coach Ange Postecoglou said: “We almost think the ball will go into the net.” This is wrong. To do this, you need determination. You need that determination to keep the ball from hitting the net at the other end.

“There is no point in feeling sorry for yourself and looking for a hug somewhere. There is only one way to change circumstances.

‘I want to win. That’s why I came to this football club. This is the message.

“We still have a long way to go. I said it from the very beginning. Days like these just give you more evidence and tell you how much we need to do. We try to play this football to win games and achieve success, not just to put on a show.”
