The most notable miss in the defeat to Wolves came from Raheem Sterling, whose shot was saved by Jose Sa after he opted to shoot despite having opportunities to equalize with the unmarked Cole Palmer and Nicholas Jackson.

After the match, Pochettino regretted the missed chances. He said: “We’ve talked a lot from the start about how this group of players is very young.

“They are young in age and this is their first time in the Premier League. They need to feel the adaptation and, of course, it’s about confidence.

“It’s also about quality. It’s about many things.

“We have to score if we want to win games and now it’s difficult because after the game we feel very disappointed.”
