A police officer and a sheriff’s deputy have been killed after a shooting in upstate New York on Sunday night.
The incident occurred near Darien Drive in Salina, just outside of Syracuse, where officers had responded to reports of a stolen vehicle.
While they were investigating, shots were fired with a Syracuse officer being injured as well as another Onondaga County Sheriff’s officer.
Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley said one person in the home was injured while one was taken into custody.
Sheriff Shelley said the two officers were in critical condition, sources have since said Syracuse.com that they are both dead.

Sheriff Shelley also confirmed that officers in Syracuse were investigating a vehicle that was reported stolen in the city.
Pictures taken from the scene show a large police presence on the street after the incident.
An officer’s call had gone out just before 8 p.m. 21 Sunday, according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches.
Shortly after, the outlet reported that a vehicle was seen driving people to Upstate University Hospital.
Local outlets reported that a command center was set up as police searched the area, while a helicopter was also launched.
Brian Fagan told Syracuse.com he heard a car speeding through the streets and flew past his home with five deputy police cruisers in tow.
Fagan said the tires screeched as the vehicles stopped before four of five shots were fired.

He said, ‘I look out my window now and there’s probably 30 to 40 state troopers and sheriffs up my street.’
Fagan also told the outlet that a county 911 system alerted him to be in place after the incident.
Sheriff Shelley said updates would be provided on Monday about the incident and said there was no immediate threat to the community.
