Taylor Swift fan DROPS class action against lawsuit against Live Nation over Eras Tour ticket debacle… amid singer’s 34th birthday celebrations

A Taylor Swift fan has dropped her lawsuit against Live Nation Entertainment and Ticketmaster over the failure of ticket sales for the Eras Tour.

Michelle Sterioff, the lead plaintiff in a federal class action against the companies, has filed to dismiss her complaint alleging the companies allowed scalpers to buy tickets, Billboard reported on Wednesday.

On December 12, Sterioff filed for voluntary dismissal in California federal court.

Previous filings in the case suggested Sterioff was actively involved in settlement negotiations. It is unclear whether an agreement has been reached.

Weeks after last year’s failed pre-sale of Eras Tour tickets in November 2022, Sterioff said Ticketmaster violated antitrust laws and engaged in anti-competitive and deceptive practices.

Michelle Sterioff, the lead plaintiff in a federal class-action lawsuit against the companies, filed to dismiss her complaint alleging the companies allowed scalpers to buy tickets.

The pre-sale debacle resulted in widespread service delays and website crashes as millions of fans tried – and many failed – to buy tickets.

In their original complaint, Sterioff and her lawyers said: “Ticketmaster intentionally and purposefully misled millions of fans into believing that it would prevent bots and scalpers from participating in pre-sales.”

They continued: “However, millions of fans were unable to purchase tickets during TaylorSwiftTix and Capital One pre-sales, due in large part to unprecedented website traffic driven by Ticketmaster, which allowed 14 million unverified Ticketmaster users and a “staggering” number of bots to take part in pre-sales.”

Following the incident on November 22, 2022, Live Nation apologized to fans and blamed a “staggering number of bot attacks” and “unprecedented traffic.”

The consequences were a furious reaction from Swift herself.

She said she’s “confident” the company can handle the high demand for tickets and “it really pisses me off that so many of them feel like they’ve had to endure multiple bear attacks to get them.”

The Justice Department has also stepped up pressure on the company and launched an antitrust investigation into Ticketmaster owner Live Nation Entertainment.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), chairwoman of the Senate Antitrust Subcommittee, then suggested that regulators consider “breaking up the company”—referring to Live Nation’s 2010 merger with Ticketmaster.

In November 2023 Reuters said the investigation is still ongoing, with federal investigators focusing on whether Live Nation complied with anti-competitive agreements at its venues.

In accordance with July Politico reportThe Justice Department could file an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation and its subsidiary Ticketmaster by the end of the year.

Ticketmaster has previously denied engaging in anti-competitive practices and said it remained under a consent decree with the Justice Department after the 2010 merger, adding that there was “no evidence of systematic violations of the consent decree.”

A source said footballer Travis wants Taylor to “feel like a princess.”

Meanwhile, Swift is preparing to celebrate her 34th birthday, which falls on Wednesday.

Taylor spent time with her best friend Selena Gomez, actor Miles Teller and his wife Keely Sperry for a pre-birthday celebration after leaving her boyfriend Travis Kelce in Kansas City after playing in the NFL.

“Travis will be with her and he’s very nervous because he wants it to be the best birthday she’s ever had,” a source told DailyMail.com. “It’s not about gifts for him, although he will get gifts for her, but he wants to give her an experience that will probably be more than just today.”
