This brain teaser’s huts and trees are obvious – but can you find the elephant in five seconds?

A mind-boggling optical illusion has left people scratching their heads after challenging viewers to spot a hidden elephant in five seconds.

But beyond the visual puzzle lies a deeper question: what does your speed at spotting the elephant reveal about your personality?

The brainteaser image has been created by Bright Side, a YouTube channel that regularly posts psychological tests, fun optical illusions and creative puzzles to their 44 million subscribers.

Bright Side uploaded the tricky optical image as part of a compilation series in June 2021 and captioned the video: “12 Riddles That Reveal Your True Personality Type.”

According to the creators, what you first spot in the image can reveal whether you ‘appreciate tradition’ or are a ‘good listener and loyal to friends’ – but with less than a third of viewers spotting an elephant first, The puzzle is harder than it looks.

The picture shows a seemingly ordinary scene of a village consisting of huts, birds and various trees.

But in its depths lies a cleverly camouflaged elephant waiting to be discovered.

With only a brief five-second window to reveal the elusive silhouette, contestants must rely on their sharp eyes and quick thinking to succeed.

However, the intrigue does not end with the challenge itself – according to the creators, the speed with which you can discover the elephant and the way you perceive the image can provide insight into your personality traits.

If you immediately see the elephant and overlook the village, you can be characterized as respectful, loyal and a good listener.

‘If you saw no village but an elephant at first sight, you are respectful of others, loyal to your friends and a good listener. You’re loving, caring and thoughtful, and that’s why so many people love you,’ explained a narrator in the video.

But if you first spot a village with huts, birds and trees, according to the creators, you may “value tradition and prefer a peaceful and simple lifestyle.”

The trick to finding the elephant is to look for a minimalist outline rather than a hyper-realistic animal.

The animal’s tribe begins on the left side of the picture, between the tall and the thinnest hut – if you follow stem up, two birds create the small illusion of eye and ear.

On the ground, you will find the elephant’s feet and toes nestled between the straw, with the elephant’s body outlined by the remaining birds and trees.

A poll previously conducted by the US Sun showed that only a small percentage of individuals spotted the animal first.

Only 5.7 percent of respondents saw the elephant first, while the majority of participants only saw the village at 71.6 percent.

Meanwhile, 8.1% of participants reported seeing both the village and the elephant simultaneously.
