Trump takes a shot at Hunter Biden for skipping his congressional deposition saying disgraced First Son went to the ‘wrong place’ on Capitol Hill

Donald Trump mocked Hunter Biden for skipping his closed-door congressional testimony and instead delivering a speech on the steps of the Capitol.

The former president, 77, criticized son Joe Biden during a speech in Iowa on Wednesday night and joked that Hunter had “gone wrong.”

He said Hunter went to the Senate section of the U.S. Capitol when he should have gone to the House of Representatives.

“You saw Hunter today, right?” Trump said. “He went to the wrong place. He went to the Senate instead of the House of Representatives.”

His comments followed Hunter’s five-minute statement in which he defiantly said his father was innocent of corruption charges and accused Republicans of being “shameless” for trying to impeach him.

Trump used his campaign speech in Iowa to take shots at Hunter in front of a packed crowd.

“Everybody’s asking, ‘Where’s Hunter?’ You see, the question is always, ‘Where’s Hunter?'” Trump added. “What a two-tier justice system we have.”

Hunter ignored a congressional subpoena to testify behind closed doors, saying he would only appear in public.

Instead, he issued a statement on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and said his father had “no financial involvement” in his controversial business deals and that there was no evidence because it “didn’t happen.”

The president’s son issued an emotional public statement in which he criticized Trump’s “merciless attack machine” and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for showing nude photos of him in Congress.

Hunter admitted he made “mistakes” in his life because of his crack addiction, but then criticized the Republicans investigating his case and accused them of “turning my father’s love into darkness.”

Republicans are now officially filing contempt of Congress proceedings against the president’s son for failing to testify when subpoenaed.

Hunter said: “I am here today to admit that I have made mistakes in my life. I’m also here today to correct the way the MAGA right has portrayed me for political purposes.

“In the depths of my addiction, I was extremely irresponsible with my finances,” he admitted.

“But to suggest that this is grounds for an impeachment inquiry is beyond absurd.”

Hunter spoke outside the Senate section of the Capitol hours before a planned Republican vote to formalize the ongoing impeachment investigation of his father. The request was approved later in the afternoon.

He said: “This is shameless. There is no evidence to support the allegations that my father had a financial involvement in my business, as this did not happen.”

Rumors swirled in Washington, D.C., about whether the first son would appear for a closed-door interview as part of the GOP investigation by House Comptroller James Comer into his father’s involvement in his foreign business dealings.

Hunter was subpoenaed by Republicans last month along with James Biden, the president’s brother, and Biden family ally Rob Walker. James’ lawyers have contacted the committee and are working to set up a time for him to testify behind closed doors.

Hunter’s decision to bypass testimony at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday will set him up for a clash with Republicans, who will now begin the process of charging him with contempt of Congress.

If the committee vote finds Hunter guilty of contempt of Congress, his case will be referred to Biden’s Justice Department. If the Justice Department agrees to prosecute, he could face up to 12 months in prison or a fine of up to $100,000 if convicted.

“Hunter Biden today ignored a lawful subpoena, and we will now file contempt proceedings against Congress,” Comer and Jordan said in a statement.

“We won’t give special treatment because his last name is Biden.”

Comer and Jordan questioned Hunter’s comments earlier Wednesday that his father had no “financial” involvement in his affairs.

“How exactly was Joe Biden involved in this?” they questioned the statement. “The facts show that Joe Biden met with Hunter’s business associates and his name was at the center of the family business strategy.”

Hunter accused House Republicans of misrepresenting his relationship with his father.

They turned “my father’s love into darkness,” he said.

Later, after Hunter skipped the deposition, Comer said there were “mountains of evidence” against him and he couldn’t dictate the terms of his subpoena.

“We expect to overthrow the president’s son, and then we’ll be happy to have public hearings,” Comer said.

“I don’t know anyone who’s in more trouble than Hunter Biden, and he just had more trouble today.”
