US forces have shot down some of the Iran-launched drones that flew towards Israel, according to officials.

A defense attorney said so CNN that troops had managed to shoot down the drones as part of their ‘ironclad commitment’ to Israel.

The official said: ‘Consistent with our ironclad commitment to Israel’s security, US forces in the region continue to shoot down Iranian-launched drones targeting Israel

“Our forces remain capable of providing additional defensive support and protecting U.S. forces operating in the region.”

Fox News reported that another official confirmed to them that the US military had managed to shoot down ‘dozens’ of the drones.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has now issued a chilling warning to the US, saying any action by America will be met with a “reciprocal” response.

In a statement, the IRGC said: ‘Any threat from the terrorist state of America and the Zionist regime from any country will be followed by a reciprocal and proportional response from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the source of the threat.’

New York Times has managed to verify the authenticity of photos and videos showing the remains of drones that had been taken down over Jordan.

The outlet said it had been unable to identify whether it was an Iranian missile or an interceptor from either Israel or the United States.

Footage on social media shows the sky over Jordan filled with explosions as drones are intercepted.

In addition to drones being intercepted, the US has sent the warship Bataan and two support ships with 2,500 marines on board into the eastern Mediterranean.

US congressional sources say the amphibious assault ship Bataan is leading a US naval task force in the eastern Mediterranean.

The Bataan has two support ships and together they have about 2,500 Marines on board.

The US also has several guided missile destroyers, including the Carney, in the area.

In addition, the US has two destroyers and a cruiser in the Red Sea that are fully armed with anti-missile weapons and are also under orders to shoot down Israeli missiles or drones.

Missiles have begun to enter Israeli airspace, with footage showing some of them being intercepted by the Iron Dome system over Jerusalem.

Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said Iran fired dozens of missiles at Israel, most of which were intercepted outside Israeli borders.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei vowed retaliation in the wake of the Damascus attack, for which Tel-Aviv has yet to claim responsibility.

The April 1 attack destroyed Iran’s consulate building in the city and killed seven Revolutionary Guards, including the two generals.
