USA get tricky Copa America group against Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia as hosts for next summer’s tournament

Copa America hosts the United States will face Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia in their group at next summer’s Copa America.

Uruguay coach Gregg Berhalter would like to avoid facing Uruguay, but he will play them last in his group – their place in the knockout stages may already be decided by then.

Berhalter’s men will begin the tournament at AT&T Stadium in Texas on Sunday, June 23 against Bolivia.

Four days later they will be in Atlanta for a game against Group C rival Panama at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

They bypassed the group in Kansas City, playing Uruguay at Arrowhead Stadium.

If they win Group C, they will face the second-placed team in Group D, which will almost certainly be Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay and Jamaica without Neymar.

The tournament will be a key benchmark for the United States ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which it will also co-host with Canada and Mexico.

Failure to qualify from this group would be catastrophic for Berhalter, even with Uruguay waiting in ambush.
