VP Kamala Harris is heckled during holiday party by Democratic lawmaker who demanded a ceasefire in Gaza and stated that ‘baby Jesus is under rubble’

  • Harris was interrupted while speaking at her Washington residence on Monday.
  • Delaware Representative Madina Wilson-Anton (D) intervened and asked, “Why don’t you call for a ceasefire?”
  • The vice president refused to participate, telling her, “I’m talking right now.”

Kamala Harris was criticized during a holiday speech at her home by a Democratic lawmaker demanding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The vice president was addressed by Delaware Representative Madina Wilson-Anton, who unfurled a banner reading “ceasefire” during Monday’s event.

Harris was speaking at her and second gentleman Doug Emhoff’s residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., where they were hosting a gala for officials, when she was interrupted.

“Madam Vice President, I am a representative from the State of Delaware. Did you know that they don’t celebrate Christmas in Bethlehem? Did you know that baby Jesus is under rubble in Bethlehem? Why don’t you call for a ceasefire?” Wilson-Anton shouted to Harris.

The vice president responded, “I appreciate your desire to be heard, but I speak now.”

Wilson-Anton unfurled a banner reading “ceasefire” before being escorted out of the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., where the event was taking place.

Wilson-Anton was then escorted from the room. She later took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a video of the incident.

The 30-year-old was elected as the state’s first Muslim official in the 2021 Delaware House of Representatives vote.

She previously worked at the Biden Institute at the University of Delaware.

Wilson-Anton joins representatives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) in calling for a ceasefire.

Harris declined to speak to the representative, telling her, “I appreciate you wanting to be heard, but I’m the one speaking now.” Pictured: Harris lights the menorah with second gentleman Doug Emhoff in a social media post.

Wilson-Anton was then escorted from the room after an outburst during Harris’ speech.

Her outburst came after a group of more than 40 interns wrote an anonymous letter demanding the president and his deputy call for an “immediate ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip.

The message accused Biden and Harris of “ignoring” the “calls of the American people.”

The White House stopped short of calling for a complete ceasefire, but insisted on a humanitarian pause in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

The explosion killed more than 18,000 Palestinians, according to the country’s health ministry.

The Israeli government previously agreed to a seven-day ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza and for Hamas to release hostages in exchange for Palestinian captives.

The temporary ceasefire expired on December 1.
