ESPN’s NBA postseason finale took a turn for the worse when Philadelphia 76ers guard Patrick Beverley asked show host Kevin Hart an awkward question.

Beverly was appearing as a guest on NBA Unplugged, hosted by comedian Hart, when he suddenly asked a question about Josh Giddey, the Oklahoma City Thunder guard accused of allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

“I have a daughter and I like to call myself a girl daddy. What do you think about the Josh Giddy situation? Beverly asked Hart directly.

A stunned Hart didn’t know how to respond and turned to his co-hosts – Joey “JDub” Wells, Will Horton and Naim Lynn – to see if they had anything to say.

After Horton tried to keep everyone out of trouble by talking about reports of what he had seen, Beverly redoubled his efforts.

– I read it too, I said, what do you think about it? That was my question,” Beverly responded, causing those present to laugh at his persistence.

Hart, feeling the need to take control of the situation, responded, “Pat, I heard your question, but I’ll tell you what I do very well—avoid.”

As the couch laughed at Hart’s response, the comedian continued: “I’m a brand, Pat… I’ll write to you and give you my real thoughts.

“But right now, on NBA Unplugged, I’m going to make it as commercial as possible.”

At this point, Hart tried to change the subject by asking Beverly if he liked the color of the blue and red courts for the season’s tournaments.

Beverley seemed not to let the matter go unnoticed, saying that he liked the color of the courts, “but not the prison courts.”

Afterwards, Hart joked about kicking him from the show: “I didn’t sweat the whole game, Pat. As soon as you asked me that question, a bead of sweat ran down my back.”
