A man was mauled by a shark while windsurfing off the coast of Perth on Christmas Eve.
The 46-year-old man was bitten on the ankle off Wedge Island, north of Lancelin, at 3pm on Sunday.
The man managed to swim to shore and reach the local first aid station at a pastry shop in Wedge.
He was treated and rushed to Joondalup Hospital for further treatment.
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is working with local authorities to co-ordinate the response.
