‘You’re responsible for killing babies’: Two arrested after Labour’s Keir Starmer is targeted by pro-Palestine protesters in Glasgow as he faces fury over his Israel ceasefire stance

Two people have been arrested after Sir Keir Starmer was attacked by pro-Palestinian activists in Glasgow last night.

Footage posted on social media showed the Labor leader facing angry protesters over the war between Israel and Hamas as he arrived in the Scottish town.

He was surrounded by a group of people, some holding placards and Palestinian flags, as he was escorted through Glasgow Central Station.

When Sir Keir arrived, one protester shouted: “Keir Starmer, you are facilitating Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip.” Stop the massacre of over 7,000 babies.

“Free Palestine, stop the genocide. You are responsible for the murder of babies in the Gaza Strip.”

Another shouted: “Starmer, why did you vote to continue the genocide?” Others shouted: “War criminal” and “You should be in prison.”

After Sir Keir got into the Range Rover, activists surrounded him shouting “baby killer”.

The protest continued outside the Crowne Plaza Hotel, where Scottish Labor leader Anas Sarwar was also criticized by protesters for “supporting genocide”.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has caused weeks of tension within the Labor Party, with Sir Keir coming under intense pressure to support a full ceasefire.

Sir Keir endured a major Labor rebellion in the House of Commons last month as 56 of his MPs defied him and backed calls for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

The Labor leader has also seen many local councilors leave the party across the country in protest at his stance on the Gaza crisis.

But Sir Keir remains steadfast in his position that Israel has a right to self-defence following the Hamas terror attacks on October 7.

Footage taken earlier on the train shows a passenger confronting Sir Keir over the “killing” of 7,000 Palestinian children.

The self-filmed video shows the pro-Palestinian supporter approaching the Labor Party leader as he and an aide look at a laptop on a train carriage.

Sir Keir, who remains silent throughout, is then criticized for his refusal to support a full ceasefire.

He is asked: “Keir, how many more children in Palestine must die before you call for a ceasefire?”

“More than 7,000 children died, more than 7,000 children were killed by Israel.

“What happened to human rights? What happened to democracy? We call for peace, we call for democracy.

“We don’t see anything like that when it comes to the Palestinians: 7,000 children, how many more have to die?” 20,000 people, how many more people must die?

“This is unacceptable, where is your humanity?”

As the activist is taken away by two men, he says: “Please don’t touch me. I am not doing anything bad. I paid for the ticket, I’m on the train.”

At least 17,177 Palestinians have been killed since October 7, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

Local officials estimate that about 70 percent of the dead in the Gaza Strip are women and children under 18.

A Police Scotland spokesman said last night: “We are aware of an ongoing protest at a premises on Congress Road in Glasgow, as well as an earlier protest in the Gordon Street area of the city.

“Officers are present on Congress Road and interacting with the crowd.

“Two people have been arrested in connection with the attack on police officers on Congress Road and investigations are ongoing.

“There were no reports of any injuries at any of the protests.”
