’13 Reasons Why’ trans star Tommy Dorfman is threatened to be kicked out of LaGuardia by Delta employee as she rants about being ‘misgendered’
Trans actress Tommy Dorfman filmed the moment a Delta employee threatened to kick her out of LaGuardia Airport after she complained that he had misgendered her.
The director, who is friends with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, was waiting to board a flight to Atlanta when the incident occurred.
Star said on “13 Reasons Why” that two Delta employees “intentionally” misgendered her before her flight last week.
The video shows the 31-year-old confronting a male Delta employee who first calls her a woman before correcting himself and calling her “he.”
At one point, an unnamed employee tells the TV star that he can take her out of the airport.
“If you want to continue, I have every right to escort you out of the building if you want to play this game with me,” he says.
Trans actress Tommy Dorfman filmed an argument with Delta employees that she says began after she was “intentionally” misgendered.
The actress and director was at the gate last week on a flight bound for Atlanta when the incident occurred. Dorfman has appeared in numerous television and film projects, including Jane the Virgin and Lena Dunham’s Pointy Stick, but is best known for his role as Ryan Shaver in 13 Reasons Why.
The video was posted on TikTok but later deleted. Dorfman first made a video: “I didn’t understand that it was condescending to report a human rights violation after another employee repeatedly disgendered me.”
Delta said it was “aware” of the video and was investigating the incident. DailyMail.com has contacted Dorfman for comment.
In the video, Dorfman scolds the employee for calling her “he.”
“You just misidentified me again,” Dorfman says in the video. “Several times, both of you.”
The Delta employee remains unperturbed and responds that he used the pronouns intentionally: “It was intentional, but if you want to take it personally. This is fine.’
Dorfman then claims that his female co-star “did it twice on purpose,” which is contradicted by an off-camera woman.
“You said ‘he’ and then you said ‘she,’” Dorfman adds, turning back to the man.
The employee then tells the actress that she is being “condescending.”
“If you want to continue, I have every right to escort you out of the building if you want to play this game with me,” he says.
— Do you want to continue three days before Christmas? I really don’t mind.
Dorfman then sighs and puts the camera down.

In the now-deleted video, the Delta employee said any gender violations were not intentional or personal, but Dorfman claimed it happened multiple times.
Dorfman, 31, scolds the employee for calling her “he” and says, “You just misidentified me again,” Dorfman says in the video. “Several times, both of you.”
She posted about the incident on a now-deleted TikTok, which has since gone viral and sparked backlash among anti-trans social media users.
She also hosts the My First Time podcast, where she interviewed Mulvaney.
Dorfman came out as transgender in an interview with Time magazine in 2021, but said she was living as a woman “privately” a year ago.
The altercation sparked furious comments on social media, with users defending both Dorfman and the Delta employee.
One user wrote: “He needs to be fired, he’s threatening to kick someone out for nothing, do you see that Delta?”
But one user said: “Tommy Dorfman did ‘nothing’ here: abused and intimidated staff. Causing delays for rushing Christmas passengers and causing public disorder that could escalate. The employee did the right thing. He’s a superstar.”
One added: “The employee deserves a promotion and praise for stopping someone from deliberately causing public disorder to feed their ego and gain social media attention.”
In a statement to Newsweek, Delta said it was “aware of the video and is looking into the matter, including reaching out to our customer to learn more about what happened.”
