Millions of lottery players are being urged to check their tickets after the winning numbers for Powerball’s record $200 million jackpot were drawn.

The lucky seven numbers from the 1446 Powerball drawing were 12, 33, 23, 35, 1, 26 and 32, while the Powerball was 10.

Around 10 million people – or half of Australia’s adult population – entered Thursday night’s draw in the hope of winning the life-changing jackpot.

Any lucky player who guessed all the numbers correctly, a chance of more than 134 million to one, will have to wait two weeks before they get their prize money.

If no one took home the Division 1 prize, the prize pool will jackpot to another record amount in the next Powerball drawing.

Lottery prizes – won through contributions with Golden Casket, NSW Lotteries, Tatts, Tatts NT and SA Lotteries – are classed as tax-free income in Australia, but depending on how the money is spent, they may attract tax.

“When your prize is in a bank account, any interest earned on your prize is subject to income tax for both you and any gift recipients,” advised The Lott.

A win can also affect other other sources of income.

‘If you are currently in receipt of a social security benefit from Centrelink, your premium may affect your entitlement,’ it says.

‘This will depend on the size of your premium and the current value of your assets.’

Lott told Channel Seven News last week that the best course of action for a winner is to seek tailored individual financial advice.

The previous record jackpot was $160 million, while the largest amount won in the lottery was claimed by a Sydney mother who took home $109 million in 2019.

A man revealed in a live TV interview that he will skip town and leave his wife behind if he took home the Powerball prize.

Mark Orval, a former AFL player, was on his morning walk on the Gold Coast on Thursday morning when he was stopped by a Sunrise reporter who asked him what he wanted to do with the winnings.

“(I would) pack my bags, disappear, tell my lady I’m sick and I’ll never be home again and she’ll never know,” he said.

The comment prompted gasps from the show’s hosts, with the reporter saying “watch out if you’re this guy’s miss”.

Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew said “there may be a few conversations going on in that household today, Lotto won or not”.

The former Collingwood player turned social media personality under the name ‘AngryDad’ took to Instagram to say he was joking and apologized to his wife, Sharon.

“How ironic I was taking a leisurely stroll at 5.30am planning my escape for tonight and bang, I’m being asked my plan and foolishly giving it away,” he said.

“Sorry Sharon, I was clearly joking.”

Sir. Orval would later ironically comment that “divorce is on the horizon” on a post his wife made about her watching the episode.
