Steven Miles set to become Queensland’s next Premier replacing Annastacia Palaszczuk

Steven Miles will be Queensland’s next premier and Cameron Dick will become deputy premier following the shock resignation of Annastacia Palaszczuk.

The move follows an agreement reached between state union leaders late Monday.

An emotional Ms Palaszczuk announced the shock move through tears on Sunday, saying “the time has come”.

Talks to find her replacement continued past 10pm last night as the party and its factions were determined to avoid a prolonged period of leadership speculation.
