A man and woman have been charged with murder in connection with the alleged death of a respected surgeon in a home invasion.

The 61-year-old man was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he was placed in an induced coma following emergency surgery.

His family made the heartbreaking decision to remove life support from him on Tuesday afternoon after he was told his injuries were “incurable.”

Just hours later, two people – a 22-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both from Thebarton – were arrested at a house in Torrensville on Tuesday evening.
