A newlywed bride tragically died at her wedding reception in Brazil at the weekend, just hours after tying the knot with her fiance.

Tragedy struck on Sunday afternoon at a property in the city of Limeira in the state of São Paulo, when Elisangela Gazano, 38, lost her balance and fell into a swimming pool in a rented country house where she was hosting a party.

Not only were the guests celebrating Gazano’s wedding the day before, but also her daughter’s birthday.

Local reports said the non-swimmer had been dancing at the water’s edge when she slipped and fell into the water and immediately began to panic.

Her bystanders tried to save her and called emergency services, but Gazano went into cardiac arrest when she was rushed to hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Friend Flavia Silva said in a poignant farewell message on social media after the drowning tragedy: ‘I met you in the last few days at the market and you were so happy you were getting married.

‘See how destiny is a dream that is fulfilled and on the same day without knowing that there would be a farewell, that there would be your departure.

‘Wherever you are, I want you to know it was a pleasure meeting you.

‘Your joy was contagious, your laugh was the best and when you put it together with mine, everyone stopped to look at you.

‘May God comfort the hearts of your family and your husband. My condolences to all. You will be missed.’

Elisangela’s funeral will take place this afternoon.

Her death was ruled an accident by police in Limeira.

It comes as a man whose wife died when he overturned their golf cart faces trial for causing her death in Australia.

In June 2022, newlywed Marina Morgan died on her honeymoon in a horrific car accident.

The buggy overturned as husband Robbie Awad tried to make a U-turn.

He was unhurt, but Marina, 29, died at the scene despite desperate attempts by a doctor and an off-duty firefighter to save her.

The accident occurred on Whitsunday Boulevard at the northern end of Hamilton Island, Queensland.

Robbie now faces four charges over the crash and his trial is scheduled for July 5 and 6 after a series of negotiations between Mr. Morgan’s defense attorneys and the prosecution.

It will resume on July 11 and 12 if it cannot be completed in two days.

Sir. Awad and Mrs. Hanna celebrated their honeymoon Hamilton Island after their big church wedding in Sydney on June 11.

Bystanders, including a firefighter, a doctor and dentist, tried to save Mrs Morgan at the scene for 35 minutes but were unsuccessful.

A helicopter called to take her to Townsville hospital was halted after the seriousness of her injuries was realised.

Awad’s case was first mentioned in Proserpine Magistrates’ Court in December 2022 and he was granted bail, Courier mail reported.

He pleaded not guilty to causing his wife’s death and has been seeking new representation since last year.
