Annastacia Palaszczuk resigns as Queensland premier

Annastacia Palaszczuk has resigned as Premier of Queensland.

Ms Palaszczuk announced the shock move on Sunday, saying “the time has come”.

“I gave it my all and ran the marathon,” she said.

“I’ve been thinking about this for a while and now is the right time, time for an update.

“I have dedicated my entire life to community service, there is no greater honor.

“Nine years seems like an eternity.”
