A woman has been awarded $180 million and part of her ex-husband’s substantial property portfolio after a bitter three-year divorce battle.

The couple, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been married for more than two decades before splitting a few years ago.

The family court heard that the man had given his then-wife a ‘life of luxury’ but that they had ‘lived separately together’ since the 1990s.

Their relationship began to unravel in 2007 when the man had an extramarital affair at one of their overseas properties.

Judge Peter Campton ruled that the couple should share their huge fortunes, which the husband had grown since before they met.

Justice Campton ordered the man to pay his ex-wife four installments of $40 million by March 22 and July 26 both this year and next year.

He must also pay her 50 percent of the couple’s property portfolio ($21.8 million) by March 22, 2026, bringing her total payout to about $181 million.

She will also gain ownership of three apartments, one of which is her primary overseas residence and is worth over $10 million, according to Daily Telegraph.

Justice Campton found the wife had been ‘financially dependent on the husband’ after quitting her job soon into their relationship.

Her husband’s wealth had helped her live a luxurious life of ‘happy idleness’, while she spent most days of the week with friends and ‘enjoys first-class international travel’.

‘She has reached the age of retirement with enormous wealth already due to the provision made for her by the husband, and can live out the rest of her days in the extraordinary luxury which she has long enjoyed, with the ownership of several properties which she can leave at will,’ reads Judge Campton’s sentence.

The wife was grilled during cross-examination after telling the court she did not want to visit their overseas property because of her ex-partner’s infidelity there.

However, when questioned the man admitted to the affair at the property but denied that it was the reason she did not visit the home.

Texts between the couple and submitted to the court reveal the bitter fallout between the couple.

“You fucked her when you were both at (home) when the last thing you wanted to do was spend a weekend with your wife,” the woman wrote.

“I won’t go into it, I’m too disgusted, but I will say how appalling it is that you used our marital home to conduct your perverted affair.”

He told the court: “I’m not going to deny it”, adding that “she also had extramarital affairs” and explained that it was not part of his evidence because he “didn’t want to go down that road”.

‘I didn’t think it was relevant,’ he told the court. “Look, I have a bad character.”
