Channel 10 lawyer Justin Quill has let Bruce Lehrmann off the hook with brutal advice after a judge found the former political operative raped Brittany Higgins.
Lehrmann sued Network Ten and Wilkinson for defamation over a February 2021 report on the project in which Ms Higgins claimed she was raped by her colleague Lehrmann in a parliamentary office in 2019.
Judge Michael Lee ruled on Tuesday that Lerhmann had raped Ms Higgins, saying he was ‘hell bent’ on having sex with his former colleague.
He gave Ten in favor when he handed down his sentence on Monday.
Outside court afterwards, Mr Quill described the 324-page verdict as a resounding victory for Channel 10 and a dismal failure for Lehrmann.

“My advice to Mr Lehrmann as he studies law would be to perhaps find another course to study at university,” he said.
Sir. Quill claimed that Lehrmann took Channel 10 to court for two reasons – to make money and to reinvent history.
“He wanted people to believe his version of events and he has failed in both endeavors,” he added.
“It’s an unsolved disaster for Bruce Lehrmann.”
Sir. Quill added that Channel 10 deserved the vindication the network received from the ruling.
“Justification in her faith and support in Brittany Higgins, who was particularly brave to come to court and unlike most rape victims who come to court, has chosen not to have anonymity and to give her evidence in the glare of the public eye and spotlight, ” he said .
‘It is a vindication from Ten to continue to run and defend these defamation cases and the cost and struggle of doing so.’

Lisa Wilkinson addressed the media after the judge handed down her verdict in the defamation case
Lisa Wilkinson, who won a Logie award for her interview with Ms Higgins on The Project, also addressed the media outside court after winning the defamation case.
“Today the federal court found that I published a true story about a rape in the office of a federal politician in March 2019,” she said.
‘I sincerely hope that the verdict gives strength to women around the country.
‘I am also so grateful to have benefited from our independent legal team.’
