Burnley have announced a new documentary series coming soon to streaming platform Peacock.
The series, titled Mission to Burnley, was unveiled on Team X’s official account on Friday when a 40-second trailer was released.
The news comes after NFL icon JJ Watt and his wife, former USWNT forward Kealia, invested in the team in the spring.
The pair were not featured in the trailer, although there appears to be a reference to them or the chairman and fellow American Alan Pace in the clip.
“I don’t think these Americans understand Burnley,” says the unseen fan.
Vincent Kompany can be seen in the trailer for Mission to Burnley, which will air on Peacock.
Burnley received a minority investment from JJ Watt and his wife Keelia in the spring.
The video shows footage of Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League in 2022, coach Vincent Kompany’s training and the team’s return to the top flight.
The clip ends with Kompany on camera saying, “When you fall and people say you’re not good enough, trust that we’ll finish on a high.”
Of course, this show follows the hugely successful FX show Welcome to Wrexham, which followed the team after they were bought by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The second season of Wrexham was released this autumn.
JJ and Keelia have previously admitted they were inspired by Reynolds and McElhenney’s (so far) successful tenure at Wrexham, as the team were promoted to League Two last season.
“We watched the documentary and it was so cool to see what they did,” Kealia previously told Sky Sports News. “This is what we model after this. “Wrexham are such a fun team and we live up to that.”
Ryan Reynolds (left) and Rob McElhenney (right) brought huge attention to Wrexham.
The trailer also shows the club’s journey back to the Premier League.
“I talked to Rob about his experience and tried to get some insight into what he did,” JJ added. “And I talked to Ryan and tried to get his opinion on what worked and what didn’t.
“Obviously it’s a different league and a different situation, but they did an incredible job. Our goal is to come and be involved in the community and truly feel like supporters.”
The Welsh club are second in League 2 after leaving the National League.
Burnley are 19th in the Premier League with just two wins after playing 15 games.
