Chris Wilder launched a scathing attack after discovering his Sheffield United starting XI had been leaked hours before kick-off.
Speaking ahead of the crunch match against Luton on Boxing Day, the Sheffield United manager said: “I think it’s a joke. Whoever did this will have something else in store because he is hurting the football club.”
Mail Sport understands that the Blades, who started in recent games, were sent to WhatsApp and other social media on the morning of the game.
Team lineups are usually announced an hour before the game.

Sheffield United’s squad has been appearing on WhatsApp on match days, Mail Sport has learned.
Asked about the missing Jayden Bogle, who is suspended for Tuesday’s game at Bramall Lane after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season at Villa Park, a furious Wilder replied: “Everyone will know this team anyway ( on Boxing Day) because she’ll be tweeting at about half past nine in the morning.
“I will comment on this. It is quite difficult to force the team to remain silent, but this situation does not suit me.
“Whoever did this, I appreciate it. Thank you very much. I’ll have to get everything in order around the training ground. This is a lesson for me too.
“The man who did this. Consider yourself a Sheffield United fan? I don’t think so. This is an absolute joke.”
