This is the first photo of the adorable chihuahua who was beaten to death by an XL bully yesterday.

Little Gizmo was just meters from his home when the “out of control” beast ran from a nearby property and closed its jaws around him, crushing his skull.

The nine-year-old boy was returning from a morning walk around the block in Charles Street, Skellow, Doncaster, with his owner’s mother Alyssia Bristow when he was attacked.

Heartbroken Alicia, 18, exclusively told MailOnline how her family were devastated by Gizmo’s death just days before Christmas.

She said she was screaming and chasing the dog down the street, which had a small dog hanging out of its mouth.

Alicia said she managed to free her beloved pet from the jaws of the crazed mongrel before carrying his limp body down the road before rushing to nearby vets.

Although they hoped Gizmo would survive, the family was given the devastating news that he had suffered a traumatic brain injury and they had no choice but to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him.

Alicia was at home with her 15-year-old brother when she heard her mother scream at about 10:20am yesterday.

She described the terrifying moment she ran outside and saw XL Bully with the thing in his mouth.

“It was absolutely traumatic,” she told MailOnline.

“He didn’t shake him, I think he already shook him.” I got to the end of the driveway and ran down the street (following XL Bully) and at the end of the street we were all fighting and trying to get Gizmo out of his mouth.

“There was so much screaming coming from me and my mom… and then we managed to get him out of his mouth and I just ran down the street begging for someone to take him to the vet.”

Gizmo was rushed to the vet in about five to ten minutes, and Lissia initially thought he would survive.

But then the family was given the devastating news that Gizmo had suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and his skull had been crushed.

“Gizmo could hear us, but he couldn’t move or blink or anything,” Alicia added.

“There was no other choice and the humane decision was to euthanize him.”

Gizmo was one of five pet dogs in the family and another, Beastie, was left injured after he too was bitten by an XL Bully.

Alicia said her brother and sister were the ones most affected by Gizmo’s death because they shared a special bond.

“He was our first Chihuahua and we got him when he was just a puppy,” she said.

“He was an amazing dog. He was so kind and hugged you. My 15 year old brother and Gizmo were best friends and it destroyed him more than anything.

“He was just an amazing dog and so sweet.”

Armed officers were called and seized XL Bully, who was believed to have escaped from a nearby property just a few doors away from the Bristows family home.
