Danish royal family rally together to deck the halls after those pictures of Prince Frederik and a Mexican socialite rocked the monarchy

The Danish royal family has shared a sweet video of them decorating a Christmas tree as they present a united front, weeks after the palace was shocked by romance rumors.

Prince Frederik, Princess Mary and their children Christian, Isabella, Vincent and Josephine came together to decorate the halls of Amalienborg, their official residence in Copenhagen.

In a sweet clip posted to Instagram, the family can be seen decorating the tree with red candles, red and gold baubles and Santa ornaments.

Looking cozy in a Christmas jumper, Mary exudes effortless luxury as she pets the family’s border collie.

Perhaps a nod to the country’s flag, the photo shows a tree with red and white trinkets, and there’s even one that’s an exact replica of the palace itself.

The show of unity has caused a furor in recent weeks after photographs of Prince Frederik, 55, partying in Madrid with glamorous Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova – and without his wife, Princess Mary of Denmark, 51 – appeared in Spanish magazine Lecturas.

In photographs, Genoveva and Frederic were seen on the streets of Madrid. Neither the prince nor his Australian-born wife Mary have commented on the allegations.

It later turned out that the father of four Frederick and the glamorous Genoveva met on a hunt and see each other several times a year.

“They have a friendship. They know each other and have mutual friends. They usually meet several times a year,” said Suzanne Griso, host of the Spanish TV show Espejo Público.

Griso claimed that Genoveva became close to the heir to the Danish throne after they met while hunting in the mountains.

The presenter explained: “These are exclusive meetings, in which you have to pay a lot of money to participate. All members of the royal family and children of noble families are present here. Trips are organized mainly to Germany and Austria.”

On these types of trips, usually to mountainous regions, guests pay thousands of euros for the opportunity to hunt large European animals such as red deer, alpine ibex, wild boar and wild mouflon sheep.

Griso added: “Her friends told me it was very difficult for her. She is now in hiding and has turned off her mobile phone because she doesn’t want anyone to call her.”

The publication of the photographs in Lecturas magazine sparked huge media interest in Spain, with the story dominating television news and talk shows in recent days.

Despite Genoveva’s denial, the allegations have attracted attention in many Spanish-speaking countries as people say they were “completely unaware” of the relationship between the reality TV star and the royal family.

The socialite’s statement said: “I categorically deny statements that suggest a romantic relationship between myself and Prince Frederick.”

She added: “Any statement of this type is not only completely devoid of truth, but also maliciously misrepresents the facts.

“It is now in the hands of my lawyers, who will take care of the necessary steps to protect my right to honor, truth and privacy.”

In accordance with Hello!Crown Prince Frederik’s private trip to Spain was to enjoy art exhibitions, watch flamenco and try new restaurants.

It is believed he had planned to attend the Picasso exhibition with a mutual friend he shares with Genoveva, however at the last minute the friend was unable to go and asked Genoveva to come in his place.

After visiting the exhibition at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, the couple strolled through El Retiro Park before heading to El Corral de la Momeria for dinner.

Genoveva Casanova is a Mexican-born socialite living in Spain who has also dabbled in acting over the years, starring in Goya’s Ghosts in 2006.

Meanwhile, the extended royal family appears to be rallying together as Queen Margrethe II of Denmark is set to spend Christmas with her sons Prince Joachim and Prince Frederik and their families.

Twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, 12, also got into the festive spirit.

It’s a stark contrast to the Danish royal family’s holiday plans last year, when they held it separately due to a dispute over royal titles.

Tensions arose after the monarch stripped Prince Joachim’s four children of their titles of prince and princess – a move that the sixth in line to the throne openly criticized.

But it appears the issue has now gone under the bridge after the Danish Royal Court confirmed the Queen will be joined by her sons at Marselisborg Palace this year.

Queen Margrethe will take up residence at Marselisborg Palace from December 20th. She will celebrate Christmas Eve with Prince Frederik and his family, as well as Prince Joachim and Princess Mary and their two children.

Felix Danish, 20 years old: Following in his brother’s footsteps, Prince Felix also achieved success as a model and starred in an advertising campaign for Georg Jensen. He served briefly at the Royal Danish Military Academy, but left after two months because it was “not for him.”

Henrik, 13 years old, and Athena, 11 years old, from Denmark: The youngest of Prince Joachim’s four children, Henrik and Athena, are the result of his second marriage to Princess Mary.

Prince Joachim’s son Count Felix will join his family on December 25, while his brother Count Nicholas will spend Christmas abroad. He is currently studying at the University of Technology in Sydney.

According to a Danish magazine, Prince Joachim and his family spent Christmas in Vietnam last year. She and Nuand Australian-born Princess Mary and her family spent the festive season in Hobart.

The magazine detailed that the trip had been postponed from 2020 due to the pandemic, writing: “Joachim finally got the chance to show the children the country where their grandfather, Prince Henrik, spent many years of his childhood and youth.”

Queen Margrethe’s high-profile decision to strip her grandchildren of their HRH status made headlines around the world and sparked a bitter row within the family after her youngest son Joachim opposed changing his children’s titles.

The monarch later apologized and admitted she had “underestimated” the consequences of her actions, but said it was “a long time coming.”

She said the decision was aimed at allowing Countess Athena, 11, Count Felix, 20, Count Nicholas, 24, and Count Henrik, 13, to live normal lives without royal obligations.
