Ellangowan crash: Two teenagers killed after car hits tree and bursts into flames

Two teenagers died after a car crashed into a tree and caught fire.

The sedan was traveling at Ellangowan, 16km south of Casino in NSW’s Northern Rivers region, when it left the road and crashed into a tree about 8.50pm on Saturday.

Passersby stopped to help and emergency services were called to the scene of the crash.

However, the driver and passenger, both 18 years old, could not be saved.

A NSW Police spokesman said: “Passers-by stopped to help; however, the 18-year-old man driving the sedan died.

“They administered first aid to an 18-year-old woman who was the only occupant; however, she also died on the spot.”

The police have launched an investigation into the crash.
