Evil Pennsylvania woman jailed for 40 years for killing stepson, 3, by stuffing baby wipes down his throat: ‘I hope he haunts you every day of your life’

A vicious Pennsylvania woman has been jailed for 40 years for killing her three-year-old stepson by stuffing baby wipes down his throat.

Chelsea Cooley, 33, pleaded guilty to murdering Travis Young Jr. while watching him at her boyfriend’s home in 2022.

The youngster died in agony after Cooley shoved eight wet wipes so far down his throat that doctors needed tweezers to remove the bloody cloths.

Cooley pleaded guilty to the horrific crime as part of a plea deal on Monday.

At sentencing, the cowardly killer unsuccessfully asked to be excused from the courtroom as harrowing victim impact statements were read.

“How could you betray my boy’s trust?” Travis’ father Travis Young Sr wrote in his statement, the Bedford Gazette reports. “How is it right that you ruined my life?”

“The worst thing is to slowly forget the sound of his voice. I hope he haunts you every second of your life.’

‘I lost my first born, my little best friend,’ Travis’ mother Rachel Reuter told the court. ‘I lost the honor of being able to watch him grow.’

She said she has forgiven her son’s killer but ‘will never be able to forget what happened’.

I hope that one day you will be able to find the peace I’m sure you need,’ Reuter said.

Despite asking to leave, Judge Travis Livengood said Cooley showed ‘no remorse at all’ as she listened to their words.

The judge called the case ‘one of the most heinous acts I have ever judged anyone for’.

“You’ve served every single day of the 40 to 80 years you’re going to have,” he told Cooley.

Travis’ nightmare began on May 28, 2022, while Cooley watched him while his father was at work.

Senior Deputy Prosecutor Evan Lowry described how Cooley took a picture of the tot lying unconscious at 8:41 p.m., but did not call 911 until 21.07.

She reported that Travis had choked on something but was hesitant to follow the dispatcher’s instructions, Lowry said.

She eventually pulled two wet wipes from the boy’s mouth, but insisted on wearing gloves to touch him, Lowry added.

EMS workers removed four more pads as they rushed him to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh with doctors at the facility using ten-inch forceps to remove the remaining pads.

They noted that the napkins were ‘tightly packed’ and ‘stained with blood’. Tragically, Travis succumbed to his injuries and died the following day.

All the while, Cooley never asked about his well-being and kept repeating that he had misbehaved, Lowry said.

Travis’ death was ruled a homicide after it was determined he could not have stopped the rags himself.

The victim had “extensive bruising” and “signs of petechiae,” spots due to bleeding on the chest and neck, Law and Crime reports.

Doctors also found evidence of faeces on his hands, while Cooley had apparently sustained bite marks.

When asked why she had taken so long to call for help, Cooley said her phone “worked up” and told police the boy needed to be placed in a “group home,” the outlet said.

Travis is survived by his parents, younger brother and extended family.

‘Travis loved his chocolate and enjoyed playing outside with his cars, cuddling while watching TV; especially his favorite cartoon PJ Masks,” his obituary states.

‘He loved being with his family and spending time with cousin Aiden.’

ONE GoFundMe for the family say the hearts of Travis’ loved ones are ‘completely broken’.
