Gunman kills two and leaves one injured before going on the run in Switzerland

Two people were killed and one wounded when a gunman opened fire at two locations in the southern Swiss city on Monday, police said.

The man, who has not yet been identified, opened fire on several people in Sion shortly before 8 a.m. for reasons that are still unclear, police in the canton of Valais (state) said in a statement.

Police said they sent officers to arrest the shooter. They said he appeared to know his victims, but did not provide details or say where he opened fire.

The local prosecutor’s office opened a murder case.
