JK Rowling launches furious attack accusing politicians of ‘caterpillar’ to trans groups

JK Rowling has launched a furious attack on politicians who have ‘settled’ for trans groups as the Harry Potter author insists she is ‘ready to die on this hill’.

The 58-year-old called for an investigation into why political parties embrace the views of ‘privileged’ pro-trans groups such as Stonewall and Mermaids.

Her comments come a few days later a review written by leading pediatrician Dr. Hilary Cass, revealed that teenagers in Britain have been allowed to change their gender based on “remarkably weak evidence”.

In his report, Dr. Cass said there was a “lack of high quality research” on the effects of giving children puberty blockers and hormones and said the toxicity of the debate on the issue has become “extraordinary”.

Rowling tweeted her response to the report, saying: ‘In 2018, Stonewall literally asked schools to shred a research packet saying there were risks with puberty blockers. We strongly condemn and condemn this publication. If it lands on your desk, do the right thing: shred it.

‘In 2022, Stonewall told the world that ‘research’ suggests two-year-olds may be trans. It advocated that nurseries – VÄGNEPLADSER – began to teach children that there are more genders than boys and girls.

‘Politicians have coddled Stonewall and Mermaids, given them privileged seats at the table and adopted their talking points to the detriment of very vulnerable children, young people and women. When will we see this fully investigated? When will this end?’

Another X user responded to Rowling’s thread of tweets, asking: ‘I love your books and I think you mean well, but I can’t for the life of me understand why you’re dying on this hill.’

The author replied: ‘Leo, are you sure it was my books you read? Because if you had read them, and understood them, you would absolutely understand why I am ready to die on this hill.’

Earlier this week, Rowling said that she won’t forgive Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson after slamming celebrities who ‘indulged in a movement intent on eroding women’s hard-fought rights’.

The multi-millionaire author hit out at stars who use their ‘platforms to cheer on the transition of minors’ following the release of the long-awaited Cass report into gender mainstreaming in the UK.

The vocal women’s rights campaigner said people who supported child gender reassignment should apologize to “traumatized detransitioners and vulnerable women who rely on single-gender spaces”.

Rowling has been vocal in her opposition to allowing children to change their gender, while Radcliffe and Watson have been outspoken in their support for the trans community.

Asked what she thought of Radcliffe and Watson, the writer at X wrote: ‘Celebrities who coddled a movement intent on eroding women’s hard-won rights and used their platforms to cheer for the transition of minors , can save their excuses for traumatized detransitioners. and vulnerable women who rely on single-sex spaces.’ #

In a discussion by Dr. Cass’s report she also added: ‘Over the last four years, Hilary Cass has carried out the most robust review of the medical evidence for child transition ever undertaken. Hours after it was released to the press and public, committed ideologues doubled down.

“These are people who have deemed opponents ‘far-right’ for wanting to know that proper checks and balances are in place before autistic, gay and abused children – groups all overrepresented in sex clinics – are left sterilized, inorgasmic, lifelong patients.

‘I understand that the review’s conclusions will have come as a seismic shock to those who have persecuted and demonized whistleblowers and smeared opponents as bigots and transphobes, but to try to discredit Hilary Cass’s work is not just misguided. It is actively malignant.

“Even if you’re not ashamed of cheerleading for what now looks like serious medical malpractice, even if you won’t accept that you might have been wrong, where is your sense of self-preservation?” The wagon you jumped on so happily is hurtling toward a cliff.

‘And if I sound angry, it’s because I’m bloody angry. I read Cass this morning and my anger has been building all day. Children have been irreversibly harmed and thousands are complicit, not just doctors, but celebrity mouthpieces, unquestioning media and cynical corporations.

‘The consequences of this scandal will be felt for decades. You cheered it on. You did everything you could to obstruct and misrepresent research. You tried to bully people out of their jobs to oppose you. Young people have been experimented on, left infertile and in pain.

‘I thought the last tweet would be my last but I just burst into tears. #CassReview may be a watershed moment, but it will come too late for detransitioners who have written me heartbreaking letters of regret. Today is not a triumph, it is the unveiling of a tragedy.’

The report of Dr. Commissioned almost four years ago, Cass made a series of recommendations to overhaul NHS trans services to improve the care children receive.

She found that there is a ‘lack of high-quality research’ on the effects of giving children puberty blockers and hormones, and recommended that NHS England set up its own research programme.

The report also called for the creation of a separate service for those who want to ‘de-transition’, where a gender transition is stopped or reversed, and recommended a ‘follow-up service’ for 17 to 25-year-olds to protect teenagers ‘falling off a cliff’ ‘ in care when they hit 17.

Dr. Cass warned that her review had been hampered by how polarized the debate over trans child care has become. She said doctors had become “(too) afraid to openly discuss their views”.

The report found that people who transition socially at an earlier age or before seeing a doctor are “more likely to progress to a medical pathway”.

She said the “importance of what happens in school” cannot be overstated and said parents must not be excluded from conversations about their children’s welfare.

Unregulated private clinics were highlighted for some by Dr. Cass’s harshest criticism when she echoed GPs’ warnings about prescriptions issued by services based overseas.

The review said GPs had ‘expressed concerns about being pressured to prescribe hormones after these have been initiated by private providers’.
