Kate Middleton reveals Princess Charlotte has inherited her musical talent and is learning to play the piano

Princess Charlotte has followed the example of her mother Kate Middleton in her new musical hobby – learning to play the piano.

The Princess of Wales, 41, proudly discussed her daughter’s musical abilities while attending the Royal Variety Performance at Prince Albert Hall in London on Thursday.

She told pianist Lang Lang, who had just performed with a 13-year-old blind girl named Lucy, that her eight-year-old daughter had recently picked up the instrument.

Lang Lang told Hello! Magazine: “We were talking about Charlotte. Her Royal Highness spoke about Charlotte’s piano playing, which I’m sure is good.

“Her Royal Highness told me that she told Princess Charlotte, ‘Hey, listen, if you train hard, you can become just like him.’

The pianist added:I thought, “Wow, I’m sure she’ll do well on the piano.” I think she’s training.

Charlotte’s newfound passion for the piano was probably music to Kate Middleton’s ears, as the mother of three is also an avid pianist.

Kate’s interest in music dates back to her childhood, when she studied piano, flute and attended school choir, reportedly reaching third grade in piano.

She recently publicly demonstrated her musical prowess by performing at the first Together at Christmas concert of 2021 with Tom Walker.

“It was, without a doubt, a unique experience,” Mr. Walker said at the time.

“I thought she just ruined the show; It’s not easy to just jump at the piano with a group of musicians you’ve never played with before and record live takes on camera, but she did it.”

Kate’s former piano teacher also shared her experience of teaching the future Queen of England when she was about 10 years old.

“She was absolutely delightful, a truly delightful person to teach piano,” Daniel Nicholls told the Evening Standard in 2012.

“I don’t think anyone would have said she was going to be a concert pianist, but she was good at it, she always did everything she was told.”

But Charlotte is not the only royal young man who has taken up a new hobby.

Her older brother Prince George, nine, has recently taken up the sport.

Former British triathlete Non Stanford said:(Prince William) was telling me how George did triathlons at school.

“There is also a gentleman who now works for William who did a bit of triathlon and gave George advice on how to put talcum powder in his shoes.

“George shared his talcum powder with his classmates and they all raved about the tips.”
