LeBron James will have to wait to face off against new NBA star Victor Vembanyama after the Los Angeles Lakers star was ruled out of tonight’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.

James, 38, is battling a bruised left calf and the team announced 30 minutes before kickoff that the team’s star would not be on the court tonight.

James has played in 23 of the Lakers’ 25 games this season, despite starting by counting innings to preserve his body.

He averages 25.3 points per game and has helped the Lakers to a 14-10 record to start the season.

Wembanyama’s Spurs, meanwhile, have a modest 3-19 record and he’s averaging 18.8 points per game as he begins to adjust to the NBA’s scrutiny.

LeBron and company are preparing for a series of road games after success at the NBA’s intraseason tournament in Las Vegas, where they beat the Indiana Pacers to become the first team to lift the trophy.

James then played against the Mavericks on Tuesday, but will now play Wednesday to recover from the injury.

After two games in San Antonio, the Lakers return to Los Angeles to host the New York Knicks before heading to Chicago.
