A mum has banned all four of her children from watching Peppa Pig and other popular children’s shows because the characters are “rude and stupid” with “bad values”.

Brittany doesn’t allow her kids to spend a lot of screen time, but believes TV can be used as a learning tool or a “moderate form of downtime.”

A mum has decided to draw the line at Peppa Pig because of the main character’s “terrible behavior problems” and the way she talks to her family and friends.

“Children are impressionable, they always copy what they see and hear,” the mother wrote in the post.

“Apart from Peppa’s attitude, the characters are caricatures: a shrewdly unintelligent mother and a useless father (who is criticized for his size).”

She added: “I don’t think it’s acceptable to show this to my children who use TV characters as role models.”

A mum claimed she was increasingly concerned that the “values” demonstrated by Peppa Pig would negatively impact her children.

Irish parents have criticized Peppa Pig in the past due to the series’ “horrible” and “offensive” content.

Brittany continued: “Peppa Pig is deceptive – it’s not as ‘easy’ as you think. These deep-seated bad values ​​are imbibed by young children.”

The mom said she’s noticed a connection between her kids’ behavior and the media they consume, so she limits screen time and only lets them watch certain TV shows.

“I recently discovered that my eldest had a change in attitude and his creative acting became aggressive and rough after we watched (Netflix show) PJ Masks a few times, so I stopped it ASAP!” She said.

Hundreds of parents agreed with Brittany.

“I can’t stand Peppa Pig. We stayed away from her,” one of them said.

“I hate the way she criticizes her friends. I don’t allow Peppa Pig into my house. My youngest watched it once and I’ve been in trouble ever since,” another wrote.

But many criticized her for being “overly dramatic” about a “harmless children’s show”.

“My child loves Peppa Pig, I don’t see anything wrong with that. Peppa is a bit cheeky, but I saw more positive impacts from watching it than negative ones. I often watch it with him and we talk about the characters and what they do.

“You can influence how they perceive it. You can’t censor the world around them, so why not teach them to interpret what they see and make their own decisions about how to treat others?” Mom wrote.

A second said: “This post is very stupid. There’s nothing rude about Peppa Pig. The characters are very polite and smart, which makes the film very educational.

“He also models positive social behaviors such as sharing, taking turns, being kind to others and developing language. I could understand if a cartoon like Family Guy was called inappropriate for children, but not this one.”
