Meghan and Charles have a ‘pleasant but distant relationship’ after a ‘respectful back and forth’ via letter over two Royal Family members who made comments about Archie’s skin colour
The king and Meghan Markle have a “pleasant but distant relationship” following “respectful correspondence” in a letter to two members of the royal family who commented on the color of Archie’s skin, Omid Scobie has claimed.
In his new book Endgame, published in Australia, Mr Scobie said Charles first approached Prince Harry’s wife in spring 2021 to share his “disappointment” that the couple had “chosen to go public”.
The Duchess of Sussex’s claim on her and the Duke’s TV show with Oprah Winfrey that an unnamed member of the royal family was talking about “how dark his (Archie’s) skin might be when he’s born” has “upset” the monarch.
Mr Scobie claims sources said Charles wanted to tell his sister-in-law he believed there was “no animosity” when two people allegedly commented on Archie’s skin color.
The letters, the source told the author, were clearly “respectful” but “serious”, adding: “I don’t know if they eventually saw eye to eye, but it at least felt like both were being heard.”

Mr Scobie wrote: “Since then, a source close to both families said, the pair have had pleasant, if casual, contact. ‘There are no hard feelings about this particular incident, but there is a distance and everything else falls on deaf ears,’ the source said.’
Elsewhere, Mr Scobie today said notes between the King and Meghan revealed the names of two people who allegedly made comments about Archie’s skin color.
The royal author, whose new book will be released at midnight in the UK tonight, said he could not reveal the identities of the two people for fear of legal reprisals in the UK.
But he said letters had been exchanged between Charles and Meghan following allegations over the Sussexes’ bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
In an interview today on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Mr. Scobie was asked if he knew who made the comments about Archie’s skin color.
The King and Meghan Markle (pictured with Prince Harry and their son Prince Archie in September 2019) have a “pleasant but distant relationship” after a “respectful exchange of letters” to two members of the royal family who commented on the color of Archie’s skin. Omid Scobie stated
He said: “I know who made the comments about Archie’s skin color. The names were mentioned in letters between Meghan and Charles that they exchanged some time after the Oprah interview.
Omid Scobie’s new book, Endgame, about the royal family, will be released in the UK tomorrow.
“We know from sources that Charles was horrified by how Meghan felt. These conversations took place, and he wanted, as a representative of the family, to talk to her about it.
“And that’s why I personally think they were able to move forward afterwards and establish some kind of line of communication. Although they may not agree on this issue.
Mr Scobie’s claims threaten to reignite the “royal racism” scandal that emerged after the Harry and Meghan interview.
In the telecast, Meghan said an unnamed member of the royal family was talking about “how dark his (Archie’s) skin might be when he’s born.”
But it is now claimed that a second member of the extended royal court, who may not be a member of the royal family itself, has also made similar comments.
The two men are not named in “Endgame,” which is subtitled “Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival.”
The book makes a number of allegations about members of the royal family and examines their future following the death of Queen Elizabeth II last September.
Meghan, Harry, William and Kate on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in July 2018.
These include that William was involved in “things that came to light about his own brother” and that the older brother ignored messages from Harry as the family headed to Balmoral before the late queen’s death last year.
Other claims made in the book include that there is a rift between the King and William, that Queen Camilla “quietly thanked” Piers Morgan for “protecting the firm” and that the timid Princess of Wales should be encouraged to carry out her duties. obligations.
Mr Scobie added in an interview with the ABC: “I think before people think I’m calling this the end of the Royal Family, I’m simply stating that we’ve reached a sort of climax where the Royal Family as we know it is in a state of decline.” At stake.’
He also claims that Prince William is spreading stories about Harry.
Mr Scobie said: “He shares private information about his brother which soon ended up on the front page of the newspaper. These are things that have caused irreparable damage to each other’s relationships.”
Describing William as a “company man”, he said: “We have seen the emergence of a much more solid man who seems to have embraced and embodied the royal institution.”
The ABC report also said Harry was ready to end the rift between William, had tried to contact his brother and that relations with his father Charles “could improve.”
Mr Scobie said: “There is a constant open line of communication between them where they can talk to each other. Where Harry, I would say, clearly understands that his father is probably not the most emotional and open person.”
The ABC report said that in an interview with Mr Scobie, he also said he felt caught up in family drama and that Meghan had contacted him to check if he was okay.
The ABC claims Mr Scobie also says he is not as close to Harry and Meghan and “never picked the Sussex team”.
The interview will air tomorrow night on Nightline.
Mr. Scobie tweeted a link to an interview on X today, adding: “Most of this @GMA interview will air Tuesday on @ABC @Nightline and tomorrow I’ll be live in the studio of @ABCGMA3 and @ABCNewsLive, global release.” #ENDGAME day.”
