Molly McCann will face Romania’s Diana Belbita in her next UFC fight, with “The Meatball” moving down a weight class.

She will make her strawweight debut on February 3 next year, the organization said.

McCann has suffered two first-round submission losses in her last two fights and will be desperate to get back to winning ways.

After defeating Yulia Stolyarenko in July, McCann announced her plan to drop weight and move up to flyweight.

She said: “(Being) the smallest in the division makes it difficult when the opponents are much bigger.

“So it’s time for me to go down and meet girls of the same size!”

And in Belbite, McCann will face a familiar foe who already tasted a unanimous decision victory over her at flyweight back in 2019.

Belbita had four fights at strawweight in the UFC, winning two and losing the other two, while McCann was riding high with two performance of the night bonuses before her subsequent losses.

The tournament will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, and the headliner of the tournament will be the fight between Roman Dolidze and Nasurdin Imavov.

McCann is no doubt keenly aware that her ground game needs improvement after her last two submission losses.

And she appears to have found great success, winning her pro grappling debut at the Polaris 26 tournament in Southampton last month.

McCann had previously faced Diana Belbita at flyweight and defeated her by decision.

“I’m a little emotional because I got rinsed alive with my last two fights in the UFC,” McCann said.

“I apologize for being emotional, but it’s hard to put up with the chin and silence (of my critics) every day.

“I just came here at the mercy of everyone online to do something that I’m not that good at or people think I’m not that good at. But here we are, I won.”
