The Elf on the Shelf is a well-known Christmas tradition that allows cheeky parents everywhere to indulge in a little mischief and a lot of creativity.
Based on the 2005 children’s book of the same name by American writers Carol W. Aebersold and Bell Chanda, it shows mothers and fathers rearranging naughty elves at night while their babies sleep.
When they wake up, they find that the elves are in a dangerous position, often touching objects in the house – be it climbing the walls or stealing children’s sweets.
How far they go with their shenanigans is entirely up to the parents, but can you go too far?
