Parents say I’m ‘miserable’ because I’m only getting one of my children a Christmas present this year

A mum has revealed the “controversial” reason why she isn’t buying one of her children a Christmas present – with many calling her “miserable” for her decision.

Tiffany Chesson from the UK prefaced her explanation by saying that although she doesn’t have a favorite child, only one of them should receive the gift this year.

The 28-year-old recently gave birth and her daughter will be five months old by the end of December, so she doesn’t see the need to spend extra money on gifts.

“There’s no point in buying her a Christmas present, she’s too young to understand and appreciate it,” she said in the video.

The mother also said that her family was on a tight budget because she was receiving maternity benefits, and it was better to use the funds for other, more important things.

However, Ms Chesson has no problem with other people receiving gifts for her daughter.

“My friends and family are going to buy her gifts, and that’s fine,” she said. “Next year at Christmas she will be 18 months old, and then she will definitely receive gifts.”

Mom claimed that she was under a lot of pressure, but, in her opinion, this was not necessary.

Some criticized her approach and said she was being cruel by denying her child the joy of Christmas.

“A little gift won’t kill you,” one said, to which Ms. Chesson responded, “I gave her life!”

“Unhappy,” another wrote simply.

– What will it look like for your eldest? – asked one.

But hundreds of people agreed with mom’s approach and shared their stories.

“I’ve said it before: I don’t care if people call me a bad mom, Christmas won’t be a big deal in my house until they’re old enough to remember it,” the woman said.

“I’m not going to buy my baby a gift this year – she’ll only be a few days old,” shared a second.

Some parents have revealed how they managed to spend too much money on Christmas gifts for their children.

“My baby girl turned a month old last year, so we just bought a play mat that we were going to get anyway and called it her gift,” one said.

“My baby is getting a new car seat for Christmas,” wrote another.
