But unbuttoning your trousers at the dinner table is one of the worst faux pas we make at Christmas, according to a survey.
Forgetting to wrap gifts—or, frankly, being too lazy to do so—is another “no” that happens far too often.
Knowing your limit is important, too: one in seven of us admit to drinking more than we should on the big day.

The survey of 2,000 people, commissioned by tobacco-free nicotine company Haypp, revealed a staggering one in five of us loosen our belts during Christmas dinner.
And a quarter of us admit to wearing a cheesy jumper on December 25 – just like Colin Firth in Bridget Jones’s Diary.
Another 15 percent even add Christmas accessories like a headband or earrings. Equally egregious is leaving the dinner table to smoke a cigarette, which 10 percent of us do, and one in 20 even smoke a cigarette in other people’s homes.
Other mistakes include over-gifting and failing to bring a gift to the owner.
Etiquette expert Laura Ceccherini-Windsor said: “Unbuttoning your trousers is certainly not an elegant gesture.
“Christmas is always an eventful time and your missteps are not easily forgotten!”
– So it’s better not to rush.
About cheesy sweaters, she said, “It’s always nice to express your enthusiasm and positivity, but as you rummage through your sweater drawer, remember that less is always more.”
